the harsh marine environment and the short boating season you
and your boat are faced with. Our professionals will
perform the necessary preventative maintenance to ensure that
your boat will be ready to go when you are. If there is a problem,
you can rest assured that we will do everything possible to
get you back on the water as soon as possible. Because today’s
marine engines are very sophisticated and require expert care,
our Service Department has technicians with factory training
and certification from Honda Marine, Mercury Outboard, and Evinrude.
Winter Boat and Engine
Care
 The
professionals at York Harbor Marine Service will perform all
of the necessary steps to properly protect your boating investment
for the long New England winter. As an added value to our winterization
service, we will perform a complimentary Courtesy Inspection,
identifying any items that may require additional attention.
This is the best way to ensure that your boat will be ready
to go and trouble free in the spring. Winter boat care is available
as an inclusive package or on an “a la-carte” basis.
Hauling/launching
Winter boat care starts and ends with hauling and launching.
We have the expertise and equipment to haul and safely handle
boats up to 45’.
 Boat
& Engine Winterization
Our factory-trained technicians will winterize your boat and
motor according to the manufactures guidelines using original
parts, designed for your motor. Engines can be seriously damaged
or ruined by improper winterizing or defective materials.

Winter Cover
The next step to winter care is a proper winter cover. Covering
your boat for the winter has several benefits. First and fore
most it keeps the rain, snow and ice out of your boat. Any
water in a boat will expand as it freezes causing damage to
your boat. A cover will also protect your boating investment
from harm full UV sunlight, dirt and debris and theft or vandalism.
Storage
To complete your boat’s winterization you need a secure
place to store it until spring. YHMS has safe and secure storage
lots for boats of all sizes. Once your boat is stored for
the winter it isn’t forgotten. We continually check stored
boats during the winter to guard against the elements or other
problems. Print

Several in-water
winter storage/dockage spaces are also available.
Spring Commissioning Services
Outboards
Spring Commissioning Includes: top off gear oil, engine oil
& trim fluid; start up and run to operating temperature, check
for overheat; check for tell-tale stream, clean out if needed;
inspect fuel hoses & fittings; check for fuel and water leaks
on engine; change spark plugs, inspect spark plug leads; inspect
anodes and replace as needed; grease all fittings on engine;
test charge system; inspect control cables. See current

Inboards (Gas)
Spring Commissioning of Inboards Includes: Check engine oil
level, gear oil level, and antifreeze level, top off each as
needed; check belts and hoses for wear and tear; start engine
and run to operating temperature; check cooling system for proper
operation; change spark plugs, inspect spark plug leads; replace
cooling system anodes as needed; check steering, shifting and
throttling for proper operation. See current
