Selecting the
Right Trailer |
The key to carefree boat trailering is getting the right trailer
for your boat. A proper match is one in which the trailer is designed
and built to carry the full weight of your boat, engine, and gear,
and which provides proper support for the boat hull.
Purchasing a trailer one size bigger than your boat requires will
accommodate the occasional extra-heavy load but anything larger and
your boat may not be properly supported and the trailer will be awkward
to tow.
The vehicle you plan to drive when trailering your boat must also
be capable of handling the weight of the trailer, gear and boat-including
fuel and water, plus passengers and equipment carried inside the tow
vehicle.
