Effective Tuesday October 13, 2009 the
bridge crossing the York River on Route 103 in York will be closed
for replacement through to October 2010.
From Interstate 95
N or S:
- From Interstate 95 north or south take exit #7 in
York, ME.
- Proceed on spur road to US Route 1.
- Turn right/south on US Route One.
- Turn left at first traffic light onto Route 1A.
- Proceed .1 miles and turn right onto Organug Road.
- Drive .8 miles and bear right across York River over
Sewalls Bridge (12 Ton Weight Limit).
- Continue on Seabury Road (up the hill) .9 miles to
the end.
- Turn left onto Route 103 and drive .4 miles.
- Take first (only) right onto Harris Island Road.
- Drive to end of Harris Island road and then follow
the signs from there.
From
Route 1 South of York (Cars and Box Trucks Only)
- Take Route 1 North from Kittery into York
- Just south of the York River, there is a blinking
yellow light at the intersection of Route 1
with Beech Ridge and Southside Roads.
- Turn Right onto Southside Road.
- Follow Southside to the end; take right turn onto
Seabury Road (up the hill) .9 miles to the end.
- Turn left onto Route 103 and drive .4 miles.
- Take first (only) right onto Harris Island Road.
- Drive to end of Harris Island road and then follow
the signs from there.
Note
Regarding Trucks
- The truck route will be up 103 from the Kittery circle.
(Trailers can't make the corner from Southside right
onto Seabury Road).
- Box trucks may use Southside Road but not tractor
trailers.
- Sewall's bridge (between Organug Rd and Seabury Rd)
has a posted 12 ton weight limit.
Boating Up River
It is our understanding that a channel will be available for
boats to move up and down river during the construction of the
new Route 103 bridge. Boaters should. however, expect periodic
delays during the construction.
